That matters with pools, because the trades that repair houses rarely touch pool hydraulics, and general pool maintenance firms rarely carry leak detection equipment. A pool leak sits in the gap between the two. Pool leaks come from a shortlist of culprits, and each needs a different fix. This is what we handle:

The pattern to notice: most pool leaks do not need a digger. The buried pipe runs that cause so much worry can usually be repaired from the inside, and plenty of “pool leaks” turn out to be plant-room faults with straightforward fixes. Where excavation genuinely is the right answer, detection first means one precise hole rather than a dug-up pool surround.

🔍 Detection first, always

A repair is only as good as the diagnosis behind it. Every DCI pool repair starts with the same kit our pool leak detection surveys use: camera inspections inside the pipework, specialised pressure testing and vacuum testing to isolate the failing line, tracer gas, thermal imaging and acoustic equipment to put a mark on the ground above the fault.

That is why we will not quote blind for a repair. Guessing is how pools end up with three holes in the patio and the leak still running. Diagnose, fix, prove: in that order.

🚫 Fixing pool pipes without digging

The repair that worries pool owners most is the buried one: a leaking suction or return line under the surround, the patio or the lawn. This is where relining earns its keep. Instead of excavating, we repair the pipe from the inside, either coating the pipe wall with epoxy or pulling a resin-saturated liner into place and curing it, which leaves a new, sealed pipe inside the old one.

⚙️ Pool equipment repairs and replacements

Not every “pool leak” is underground. Pump shaft seals weep, filter housings crack, multiport valves stick and let water slip away to waste. The plant room is the first place we look on any survey, and it is often where the fix happens too.

We repair pool plant where repair makes sense and replace it where it does not, and because we test the whole circuit afterwards, you know the new kit is not masking a second problem further down the line. If the equipment fault has been dumping water for months, the same visit can check the rest of the system before it becomes the next callout.

For holiday lets, hotels, campsites and holiday parks across Cornwall and Devon, a closed pool is lost bookings. We plan repair work around your season: out-of-season fixes before opening, or contained, low-disruption repairs mid-season when a problem cannot wait. Owners who manage remotely get photographs, findings and the re-test results directly, and our reports are insurance approved where the damage supports a claim. One honest note on insurance: UK trace and access cover typically pays for finding the leak and making good the access damage, and not always the underlying repair itself.
